Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park (Southern sector).

Depending on your location on the 1st day of the safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will pick you up from hotel or your residence in Kampala or from Entebbe International Airport and brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will start on your journey to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park that takes you approximately 8 to 10 hours through the varying landscapes. Along the way you will make a stop at the equator crossing in Kayabwe for taking pictures and then equator experience. Later you will proceed with your journey and make another stopover in Mbarara for the en-route lunch, after lunch you will continue driving until you spot the terraced hills of Kigezi highlands, in the evening upon your arrival you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

On the 2nd day of the safari, get up in the morning and then enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, check out from your lodge then together with your packed lunch, meet your safari guide and then transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking at 7am. After the briefing you will be grouped in various groups of about 8 members per group, and each group will be assigned with the experienced park ranger and park guide to lead them in the forest to look for the mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas, this is where you will trek through the steep, densely forested hills while fascinated with the various primates, bird species, and animal species and among many others in the forest.

And once you find the gorillas you will be given one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas that is keeping 7 meters away from them. This is when you will watch the gorillas doing their daily activities like playing, grooming, feeding, mating and others. During that period that’s when you will take the pictures and then recording their videos. And after the experience you will trek back to the starting point and then be awarded with the gorilla trekking certificates for taking part in gorilla trekking.

Then you will proceed with your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park while passing through Ishasha sector in the Southern part of the park famous for the tree climbing lions the drive takes you approximately 3 to 4 hours, upon your arrival in Ishasha you will go for the short enroute game drive in search of the elusive tree climbing lions while lying in the fig trees, you may also spot other wildlife like elephants, buffaloes, various antelopes and among many others. You will continue to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 3: Game drive and afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat cruise.

Wake up and enjoy breakfast, after breakfast meet your safari guide and go the park for the morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains of the park that is renowned for its abundant wildlife, you will have the excellent opportunities to spot the lions, leopards, and if you are lucky you will spot buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, and various bird species. After the game drive you will return to your lodge for lunch and some relaxation.

After lunch you will meet your safari guide and then head to the Mweya Peninsula for the relaxing and then incredibly rewarding boat safari on Kazinga channel, this natural channel connects Lake Edward and Lake Gorge that is a magnet for wildlife. You will get up close to a large concentration of hippos, crocodiles in water then elephants, buffaloes bathing on the banks and viewing the impressive various bird species. After the boat safari you can opt for another short evening game drive or head directly back for the lodge for diner, and overnight.

Day 4: Departure.

On the last day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast, after breakfast you will check out from your lodge and then exist your lodge with the en-route game viewing experience and spot wildlife that you missed during the previous game drives, and later you will proceed with your journey and make an en-route lunch in Mbarara and then continue with your journey to Kampala and upon your arrival your guide will drop you off at your hotel or any preferred location that will make your safari come to the end.
