Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Ruhengeri.
Depending on your location your African Vacation Safaris will pick you up from Kigali International Airport or from your hotel in Kigali and then welcome you about the 5 days Rwanda Uganda gorilla safaris and then brief about the safari. After briefing you will transfer to Kigali city tour and explore some of the attractions like Kigali genocide memorial site, visiting Kimironko market and among others. After the city tour you will go for lunch, after lunch you will transfer to Ruhengeri in the northern province of Rwanda as you enjoy sighting of stunning views until you arrive at your lodge, once you arrive you will check in for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast, after breakfast meet your safari guide with your packed lunch and then transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will head into the bamboo slopes and hills of Volcanoes National Park to search for the gorillas. Gorilla trekking in the park about 30 minutes to 5 hours in Rwanda depending on the movement of the gorillas, because these creatures move in different locations while looking for food and shelter. Once you find the gorillas you will be given one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas that’s watching them doing their daily activities like feeding, playing, mating, hunting, taking their pictures, recording their videos and among others. After one hour you will trek back to the starting point and then be awarded with gorilla trekking certificates for taking part is gorillas trekking. If you finish early the trekking you will go for village walk around Kinigi or simply go to your lodge and relax and then dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Kisoro Uganda (Southern Bwindi).
On the 3rd of the safari, wake up in the morning and then enjoy breakfast. After breakfast you will check out from your lodge and then meet your safari guide and then start your journey to Uganda through Cyanika border and then reach Kisoro town in time for lunch. After lunch you will explore the wonderful Lake Mutanda and explore it with the perfect views of the Kisoro town, later you will go to your lodge and then check in for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.
On the 4th day of the safari, get up early in the morning and then enjoy breakfast after breakfast you will meet your safari guide and then with your packed lunch and then transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking from the skilled and experienced park rangers and guides. After the briefing you will be grouped in various groups of 8 members per group and then each group led by the experienced guides to the forest trails while looking for the gorillas, this takes approximately about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas, because these creatures move to various areas looking for food and then shelters. Along the way looking for the gorillas you will be thrilled with unique sighting of the park’s biodiversity. And once the gorillas are located you will be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas that is watching them feeding, playing, grooming, breastfeeding, taking pictures and recording movies and among others. After the experience you will transfer back to the starting point to where you will be awarded with gorilla trekking certificates for participating in gorilla trekking. Optional you will go to the Batwa community tours to where you will get the chance to interact with the Batwa people and many more, later you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer back to Rwanda.
On the last day of the safari, get up early in the morning and then enjoy breakfast. After breakfast you will meet with your safari guide and then start on your journey to Kigali and then have en-route lunch in Kigali. After lunch, your safari guide will drop you off at your convenient place that is either at Kigali International Airport or to your hotel in Kampala that will bring your safari to the end.
